What I love

I have been feeling a little grumpy lately. I've had my MIL in my house for two weeks and that always makes me a bit grumpy. Fortunately, my sweet husband, great friends and vanilla lattes have gotten me through so far. I only have one more week to go. Until then, I am dwelling on things I love and things I am thankful for.

1. this view. I love living here in Colorado Springs and literally having this in my backyard. AH


2. Dane.
3. those squirelly girls of mine.
4. these.

5. my Teva flip flops

6. coco cabana lotion from bath and body works. - smells like the beach.

7. this guy. jeffrey donavon from Burn Notice. Just knowing he's out there somewhere thinking of me, makes me happy.

8. Tivo-because I want to watch my shows when I want to watch my shows. can I get an amen?

9. rainy cool days like today when I'm still in my pajamas. and I don't even bother to straighten my hair.

10. Making lists. Lists bring sanity. ( am I right- steph?)

11. text messaging with my friends, without which I would be lost. love my email girls too.

12. good music on my iphone. I have been making some fantastic mixes lately- today I am making a soundtrack to my life at this stage. Let me know if I can hook you up to the Melodie show. ( thanks for the idea, Lesley- i am ready to hear yours.)

so these 12 will get me through the week.

Adventures in Motherhood part 2

3. Yesterday D took the little one to Safeway for groceries. there is a Starbucks in the store at the oppposite end. She turned to him and said "I want Starbucks". I have nothing to say about that one. she is mommy's girl.

4. We had a massive snowstorm on Friday. I snowed all night and day. My girls loved playing in it, although we were really wishing those neighbor kids still lived next door. I bundled them up and sent them out. They made snow angels on the 6-8 inches that covered our deer-poop covered lawn. when I went to check on them, they were buiding an ice slide. (well the big one was building an ice slide while the little one tried to catch snowflakes on her tongue.). I felt all warm inside thinking of these little girls playing together in the freezing snow. We had cocoa when then came in. a good day indeed.

adventures in motherhood

1. For years D and I have been using the phrase " paying the piper" when we talk to freckles. We say things like,"after all these months of stuffing things under your bed, today it's time to pay the piper and clean it out" or " remember when you used a nasty tone of voice to your sister.. one day you will pay the piper". I told her that today about studying her spelling words for her test on Friday and she said " I HATE THAT PIPER-- WHO IS HE ANYWAY?!? I DON'T WANT TO PAY HIM ONE CENT!!! I had to laugh, because I hate the piper too.

2. After potty-training for a few months, my little one has finally gotten the hang of it. However, I thought it wise to put a diaper on her for the plane ride from Indiana last week. After we arrived at DIA, we got our bags and waited for D to come pick us up. It was amidst the turmoil by carousel 8 that C announced that she needed to potty. I told her that she had on a diaper and it would be ok if she just went "right here". So she did. when I turned back around her pants and diaper were down around her ankles and she was going "right here" next to carousel 8. I stood there contemplating my options. I could a) leave the ten-year-old standing in baggage claim with three suitcases, three carryons, a purse, a carseat and a stroller while I run through the terminal or b) try to take everything with me. I chose a and c and I made a run for it. We were too late of course and she ( and I) was soaked. For those of you who wondered what I did about the pee pee on the floor... nothing. I did nothing. We walked quickly away.

Gaitiland

After church we went to Gaitliland on Sunday. Pizza and games galore. G and M had a blast playing the big kid games. the little girls ran all over the place. We met my cousin, Brittany there (Brit, I know you said you read this sometimes, so here is a shout- out to you!) It was crazy and loud there, but we all had a good time. U of L lost their tournament game, so I guess not everyone was celebrating. ( sorry dad).

I got to spend the day with Jenni on Saturday. We had a great time strolling down memory lane. We shopped a little, had lunch and took the kids to Butt's Drugstore. It was great to be with her. SAturday night she had Zack, Jeff and Cassie, Eric and Lesley and kids over. We watched the kids play in the fallen petals in the yard and visiting.

We have been friends for almost 30 years.

The Easter Bunny's Promise

I was lucky enough to attend a brief but meaningful production of the award-winning play " the Easter Bunny's Promise". It was written and directed by the Hoagland-Roberts Theatre company.
