dear sunshine,
I need you. I really have loved spending time with you these last few days. when you are gone, i feel empty inside. I know you disappear earlier and earlier this time of year, but please, sun, stay around as long as you can. My daughters and I need to play at the park.
wearing sunglasses,
Melodie the hopeful
Dear scary movies,
I need to take a break from you. have been having trouble sleeping. can't really get up in the night to go to the bathroom bc am afraid jason or michael or jack or freddie are waiting for me in the bathroom. last night i nearly wet myself. this is ridiculous.
hugging my pillow,
melodie the chicken
dear corydon,
I miss you. i really do. I wish there was a way to move the mountains and be there. I miss walking around the shops in my little small town, harrison county fair, the gazebo on the square, the changing of the leaves in autumn, FAMILY, the state forrest, pollys freeze, bonfires, and the green green grass.
homesick,
Melodie the lonesome
Dear sugar babies,
I love you. I dont know what I did before I found you. you taste so good and i want you all the time. I am sad that you are gone, and have been trying to figure out how to get more of you. I know you may not be the best thing for me right now as I am supposed to be watching what I am eating, but i can't keep myself away from you. Nothing ever tasted this good.
dreaming of you,
melodie the hungry

Horror movies
I fixate on things. I get some new hobby or interest in my head and i don't lose it. I spend all my time thinking about it and working on it. these flights of fancy are usually short lived and I move to the next fixations. also, I don't like to be scared and am a huge chicken. and last, I was 35 before I saw my first real horror movie. horror movies are now my new thing.
1. D and I started with Friday the 13th. the original. It was incredibly campy ( get it.. the kids were at camp). We had to actually buy this movie because there were none available to rent. We watched in the living room on the couch, which meant it was open behind me. I spent the whole night looking to see if anyone was sneaking up on me. I did notice kevin Bacon and apart from him dying a horrible inpalement death, i enjoyed seeing him. I was scared to get up to go to the bathroom and made D go with me. I also made him sleep facing the door-- just in case.
2. One thing I noticed in Friday the 13th Part 2 was that if you sneak away from the group...you die. You even think about getting naked with someone....You die. If they haven't said your name on screen....you die. but if you think that the killer is dead...he isn't. he really really isn't. I guess when dealing with deranged killers, the best thing to do is whack off the head just to ensure they don't get up again. good job alice in part one.
3. Halloween was third. We watched rob Zombie's one from 2007. I sympathized with poor little michael Myers. I argued with D that since he didn't kill his baby sister and mother, there was still some good left in there. I felt sorry for him thinking he was ugly. I guess what I am saying is that I probably could have written myself in as the foster mother character who is axed in her newly remodeled bathroom by her new foster son, michael. D says Mike is pure evil and there is nothing to do but chain him up and or whack off his head. and while this is probably true, i hated to admit that this child was pure evil. yes its just a movie. I obsess. this is why horror is not my favorite genre. and that mask scares the crap out of me. am a chicken.
so, while we were watching the shining the power went out. I think my heart might have actually stopped beating. however, noone entered the house saying, " im not going to hurt you melodie..." so all is ok now. btw, not sure why we lost power, but is scared me to death sitting around with candles and flashlights waiting for... whatever to get me. this is why I like romantic comedies. cookie and cinderella.
cookie has made a friend. After many tries at the park of asking little kids if they want to play with her and getting ambivalance and refusals, cookie has made a true blue bff. These girls are only two months apart and like almost exactly the same things.
She and cinderella play together on thurdays when freckles is at school. they play house, tents, hide and seek, and read books, but their favorite is "dress up princesses".
We had a blast carving pumpkins with cinderella and her fantastic family...( I truly heart cinderellas mom and hope she sends me some of the pics we took at our jackolantern party).
cookie is learning to be a friend. She is learning to share, and use her kind words, and take turns. its rough learning the ropes of being a true friend. thanks, cinderella, for being a good friend to Cookie. We are sorry for any bite marks, broken toys, or hurt feelings. thanks again for the panties the other day.. we forgot our spare pair. you're the best. See you Thursday...Posted by melodie at 1:19 PM 2 comments

American Girl
Love that girl. I treasure these days when she still wants to go places with me. The pre-teen attitude has begun to set in and things are not as easy as they once were. I pray that we will understand each other in the coming years, or at least accept each other. I love that little freckle faced girl. I see so much of myself in her. Sometimes she thinks I read her mind. I tell her, " you are only saying that because you are thinking _____". She is amazed, but really I am only telling her what I thought at her age. I get her. I don't always like it though. It is tough to watch your little shadow start to have her own little light. thank you God for this precious girl....This young woman who you designed perfectly. Thank you for her intelligence, her smile, her sense of humor, her talents, her heart. Help me equip her well for the road you already have planned for her.Posted by melodie at 8:48 PM 2 comments

making lists is one of my favorite things.
I like:
enjoying an afternoon at the county fair
picnicing at the park
the smell of pumpkin pie coming from the kitchen
a warm bath with bubbles
pressing sugar babies to the roof of my mouth until they disintegrate
popping bubble wrap
having breakfast food for dinner
making a playlist on my ipod for a soundtrack for the day
getting a fresh coat of color on my toes... usually red.
having an iphone
holding a warm little mitten hand on a snowy day
honey on toast ( with butter)
working puzzles at the table with people I love
snuggling under my down comforter
seeing Christmas decorations in the stores and looking forward to my favorite holiday
watching black and white movies
painting
making lists of things i like.

Snow days
Every fall we make Pumpkin chocolate chip muffins * hi steph* and this year was no exception. Freckles was the baker this time and did them all by her self. She doubled the recipe ( we called it math -fraction time) and they turned out super yummy. We were able to share them with friends.
We have all been a little under the weather this week. The snow and overcast skies made us a little lethargic. we couched most of the day yesterday and today. It is giving me a good chance to catch up on some feel good movies while i organize cd's and update the blog ( finally). I have written a few songs ( like jo in Say anything) and been having fun reading library books with Cookie and knitting with Freckles. need kym to come over and watch Monk with me. I am still not caught up.
